About The Session

As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA), our church is led by ruling elders – men and women who are called by God and elected through the voice of the congregation to serve three year terms on the Session (which is basically a Presbyterian term which refers to a governing board). The Session is responsible for the mission and governance of the church of Jesus Christ in this place. Our Session gathers monthly to discern the movement of God’s Spirit in its deliberations, and to pray for the church’s ministries, members, and friends.

Presbyterians believe in the “Priesthood of all Believers,” which is a fancy way of saying that all of us – clergy and laypeople alike – are called to participate in sharing the Good News of God’s Love with the world.  How do we do that?  Like most Presbyterians, the ministries of Faith Presbyterian Church are led by committees of people who come together to serve a common purpose or function.

At Faith, our Session has several standing committees, each of which is made up of elders and other members of the congregation. Currently, our standing committees are: Christian Education, Commitment & Generosity, Congregational Life, Family of Faith, Finance, Mission, Personnel, Property, and Worship, Music & Arts.  The Session also has an active Deacon board (called the “Diaconate”) whose members offer gifts of caregiving, compassion, and service to the congregation and community.

About The Deacons

The Board of Deacons is responsible for the ministries of caregiving, compassion, and service in the life of the congregation. Deacons are called by God and elected through the voice of the congregation to serve three year terms on the Diaconate (another name for the Board of Deacons). Our congregation has divided Cape Coral and its surrounding areas into “neighborhoods,” and each neighborhood has its own Deacon. The Diaconate gathers monthly to coordinate their efforts and pray for the church’s members and friends.

Faith has divided Cape Coral and its surrounding areas into “neighborhoods” and each neighborhood has its own Deacon. Your neighborhood Deacon will communicate with you from time to time and is there to help you. Please feel free to contact your neighborhood Deacon. We also ask that you keep your neighborhood Deacon informed of any changes in address or telephone number. This helps us with our Emergency Response Network which makes sure that during hurricane season, your family can be promptly located before and after a hurricane, and provide assistance in any way that we can. All members of Faith are assigned to a neighborhood. A neighborhood Deacon oversees each neighborhood and will be in touch with you.
